We’ve received a lot of inquiries asking about the risks of swimming in pool water given the recent COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to educate and ease fears, we wanted to put together an informational piece based on the latest CDC facts and recommendations concerning your pool and COVID-19/Coronavirus.

What’s the risk of COVID-19/Coronavirus spreading in pool water?

According to the CDC, there is no evidence that the coronavirus can spread through the use of pools and/or hot tubs. Specifically, in hot tubs as the virus seems to be unstable in warmer climates/conditions.

Common chemicals used in pools, specifically chlorine and bromine, are known to deactivate the virus. This is why it’s important to keep up with regular pool maintenance services to ensure that your water is equipped to fight off bacteria and viruses of any sort. Also, disinfecting and operating your pool properly should provide a safe environment for family and friends to enjoy this summer.

We hope this update has eased concerns about COVID-19 spreading through pool water. Our customer’s safety is always our main priority and we are happy to report that you can feel good about enjoying your pool all season long, no matter if you’re in quarantine or not.
